The Extron MTP R 15HD RS Mini Twisted Pair Receiver and MTP RL 15HD RS Mini Twisted Pair Receiver with Loop Through work with the MTP T 15HD RS Transmitter to transmit RGB, component, S-video, or composite video and bi-directional RS-232 signals long distances over a single unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. The MTP 15HD RS Series can be used with any CAT 5, 5e, or 6 twisted pair cable or with Extron Enhanced Skew-Free?A/V UTP cable (patent pending) for cable runs of up to 600 feet (185 meters) with XGA signals or up to 450 feet (135 meters) with UXGA signals.
Extron MTP 15HD RS transmitters and receivers precisely optimize image quality for various UTP cable lengths using adjustment controls on both the transmitter and receiver. The transmitters feature a pre-peaking switch that provides additional compensation at the front end for the longest cable runs. The receivers offer continuously variable gain and peaking controls, allowing users to dial in the exact amount of gain and peaking required for each unique cable run.
The Extron MTP R 15HD RS Mini Twisted Pair Receiver accepts video and serial control signals on a female RJ-45 connector. Video signals are output on a female 15-pin HD connector while serial communication signals are output on a 3.5 mm captive screw connector. The MTP R 15HD RS receiver features separate continuously variable level and peaking adjustments that enable users to compensate for any signal degradation associated with long cable runs. A set of dip switches on the rear panel make it easy to configure the output signal and output sync formats.
The Extron MTP RL 15HD RS Mini Twisted Pair Receiver with Loop Through has all of the same features and functionality as the MTP R 15HD RS, with an added female RJ-45 output connector. This additional buffered output enables multiple MTP RL 15HD RS receivers to be connected in series, reducing the number of parallel cable runs required.
The MTP T 15HD RS and MTP R 15HD RS are compatible with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) and are ideal for such applications as large training facilities, museums, airports, movie theaters, and hotels. These products are well suited for any application that requires a cost-effective solution for sending RGBHV, RGBS, HDTV and other high resolution video and bi-directional RS-232 signals long distances over UTP cable.
When using data grade twisted pair cable for sending high-resolution video signals long distances, a problem called skew can cause a distortion in the image, resulting in visible color separation. Extron offers two options for solving this problem and restoring image quality. The first option is to place an SEQ 100 15HD Skew Equalizer at the receiving end of any cable run where skew is a problem. The second option is to use Extron's Enhanced Skew-Free?A/V UTP cable to make system connections.
Because the MTP 15HD RS Series transmitter and receivers utilize UTP cable for the distribution of high resolution RGBHV and serial control signals over long distances, they offer considerable advantages in cost, performance, and ease of installation. UTP cable is a fraction of the size of coaxial cable, and much lighter, more flexible, and less expensive, thus providing A/V system designers and installers with an economical, space efficient solution for a variety of applications.
Extron MTP Transmitters and Receivers are part of the VersaTools?family of economical, compact products designed for easy integration into new and existing A/V environments. MTPs are compact so they can fit just about anywhere: in equipment racks, under tables and desktops, or next to a projector.
